Hi Carol!
Thomas Granville Farley and Lucy Fair Rutherford Farley were my Great-Great Grandparents.I am descended from them through their youngest daughter, Mary Farley Edwards. Here is what I have on them:
Thomas Granville Farley b. December 23, 1839 - d. September 14, 1911
Parents: Samuel Granville Farley and Matilda Taylor (Farley)
Lucy Fair Rutherford b. December 1, 1840 - d. March 27, 1906
Parents: Ruben (Reuben) Rutherford and Polly Kessee (Rutherford)
Lucy and Thomas married February 28, 1861
The following is a list of children I copied from my Great-Grandmother's family bible back in the late 1970s.I was 14 years old and just getting interested in genealogy. This would also be my final visit to my Great-Grandmother, as she would die in 1980.We began talking about her family and she showed me her bible (the whereabouts of which after her death is unknown - it was never found.) and let me copy this information:
Herford (Hartford) b. January 6, 1862 d. August 27, 1862
Matilda b. January 11, 1864 d. March 22, 1873
John b. March 4, 1865 d. December 17, 1884
Lewis b. December 11, 1866 d. March 13, 1935
Harrison b. August 18, 1867 d. March 11, 1963
Jane b. January 23, 1870 d. May 12, 1957
Jefferson b. March 4, 1871 d. October 16, 1894
Sara Ann b. June 22, 1873 d. March 20, 1943
Dora b. April 6, 1875 d. March 20, 1881
Boyd b. June 19, 1876 d. July 7, 1935
Anderson b. December 25, 1877 d. January 8, 1960
Della b. March 1, 1879 d. January 13, 1969
Vicie b. October 10, 1880 d. December 25, 1969
Mary b. January 8, 1882 d. May 15, 1980
Cleveland B. b. January 11, 1886 d. September 24, 1975
My Great-Grandmother always said she was one of 21 children (with several of the living ones having twins who died at childbirth). On the 1900 census, Lucy says she only gave birth to 16 children, and the list above from my Great-Grandmother's bible has 15 names. If I had to make a choice, I would think Lucy would have a better idea of how many children she gave birth to, and so it is possible there is a child missing from the above listing.
I found an entry in "find a grave" for Lucy Farley in Pike County, Kentucky as being buried in Scott Cemetery, Pike County, KY.Her son Anderson is buried in Scott-Farley Cemetery in Pike County, KY.It is possible that Scott Cemetery and Scott-Farley Cemetery are one in the same.I also found an entry on rootsweb-Pike Co, KY message board from 2005 which indicates Thomas Granville Farley was buried in Varney Cemetery in Pike County, KY.I have only gathered this burial information and have not had a chance to go to Pike Co, KY (I live in Georgia) to search for myself.
Hope this helps -- by the way, what is your connection to Thomas G. and Lucy?
Sean Maxwell
