Hi Sally,
We have been trying to find out what happened to Samuel Farley and Abigail Tompkins after they had Cheney Secord Farley, Nathaniel Farley and Samuel Farley. Did they have other children? Where did they live? It has been about 200 years, so they are probably dead by now. One source suggests that Abigail died in 1874, but not what day or even what month... plus no indication of where she died or where she is buried or if she has a gravestone.
They aren't buried in Whited Cemetery... AKA: Boundary Line Cemetery in Bridgewater, Maine with Nathaniel Farley (1796-1868), or in Brown Cemetery in Richmond, Maine with Nathaniel H. Farley (1839-1921) or in Smith Cemetery in Bridgewater with Joseph Howard Farley (1872-1938). Many of the descendants of Ezekiel Farley are buried in Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle. Ezekiel's wife, Mariam (Gray)(Farley) Harris is buried in Lyndon Center Cemetery in Caribou, next door to the Caribou Historical Society. Death records for a few of the descendants of Ezekiel Farley state that they are buried in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Fairfield, but many of the burial records were lost and there is no sign of any Farley gravestones.
John Farley & Elizabeth Laughton are buried in Woodland Cemetery. It looks like his father, James Farley (1798-1861)who married Mary Benner and lived in Dennysville, Maine was also a son of Solomon Farley... one of ten children mentioned in a deed in Carleton County, New Brunswick in 1827... eight years after Solomon Farley died in 1819, in Peel, Carleton County, New Brunswick. This deed is quoted in "The Tompkins Families of Carleton and York Counties, New Brunswick, Canada" by Stanley Corey in 1977. The Tompkins Genealogy also states that a baptism record is the source of information about the births of Samuel Farley and Abigail Tompkins sons, Cheney Secord, Nathaniel & Samuel.
This Tompkins Genealogy is a very good source as there is a lot of intermarrying between the Farleys, the Tompkins and the Giggeys. Also the Palmers and the Guerriers. I have also been learning more about some of Solomon Farley's daughters who married and lated moved to Aroostook County, Maine...Margaret Farley married William Pyle, descendants around Castle Hill, Maine... Polly married George Fields, descendants around Ashland, Maine... Deborah (1788-1866) married Richard Bell, descendants lived around Mars Hill... still working on these families...
