Hi Letitia,
Since I posted Mason Farley I have found out that his name is Moses P.(Phares or Payne) Farley (written wrong on the census) married to a Mary Parsons in Jefferson Co., Al. 1-2-1838 and his Father's name was Robert Farley from the marriage license. I do have some info on some other Farley's in the area that I have picked up in my research. Their children were:
Julia Farley born about 1840 and married to Richard M. Hester 12-13-1856 in Pickens Co., Al.
Thomas Benton Farley born about 1841
Phares Shelby Farley (went by P. Shelby Farley) born 1843 died 3-26-1926 and buried in Salem Primitive Baptist Ch. Cem., Gordo, Pickens Co., Al.married 1. to Mary Elizabeth C.?? I have his death certificate and Civil War records.
3 kids. He and Mary(1) are my husband's Great Grandparents.
Martha Farleyabout 1846
James Farley b. about 1847
2.married to Mary Virgina Fife McCord with 6 kids I think. I have a copy of their marriage license.I do have all their names and kids names but not right in front of me now. Phares and the two Mary's are buried side by side in the same cemetery.
I am also working with an Alice Farley Hahn from Tuscaloosa, Al. to find her Farley family. There were a lot of Farleys in Shelby, Fayette, Walker, Pickens, Tuscaloosa and Jefferson County, Al.I have met some of them.I do have some pictures and so does Alice. She is looking for Elijah Farley and Elbert Farley and she says they were in Shelby Co., Al. on the 1850 Census since the County lines changed so often you can't just look in one county.I have seen the names you have, but I will have to look for my notes.
