I have a John Faris b.29 Oct 1797 from Campbell County Virginia although he may not have been born in Campbell County. His father was Benjamin Faris who married a Francis ? we believe and after her death married Molly (Polly)Trent.
John Faris was one of three John Faris' in Campbell County during this time period. One was born much earlier and had most likely served in the Revolutionary war. He had a son John Faris. I don't have any information that would tie the 3 men into the same family line.
My John Faris married Martha Wilkins Herndon in 1818 They had 3 children. John died 1863.
1. James H. Faris (my gr.grandfather)m. Patara Harris
2. Francis A. Faris m. H.M.(Swanna)Morgan
3. Anne Elizabeth m.John T. Johnson
Most of John Faris' Children spell their surname as Fariss in their records that I have located.
