James: I don't have any information on James Knox Polk Farris, but have quite a bit on the ancestors of James Daniel Faires. 1. Alexander Faires, b. 1740, Ireland; d. June 6, 1824, York Co., SC. He married bef. 1774 Jennet Hall, prob. in PA; b. abt. 1757, d. Feb. 6, 1837, York Co., SC. She was the daughter of John Hall and Harriet Prudence Patterson. Alexander and Jennet are buried in the Old Unity Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Fort Mill, York Co., SC. They had at least ten known children. 2. Jesse Faires, s/o Alexander and Jennet, b. 1787, York Co., SC, d. April 21, 1845, York Co., SC; m. bef. 1814 to Margaret Garrison, b. 1794. They had only two known children that lived to adulthood. Jesse is buried near his parents in the above cemetery. 3. Samuel Alexander Faires, s/o Jesse and Margaret, b. 1819, York Co., SC, d. June 6, 1860; m. bef. 1845 to Mary J. Smith. They had at least three known children. 4. James Daniel Faires, s/o Samuel and Mary, b. Nov. 11, 1846, York Co., SC, d. June 5, 1914 in Nacogdoches, TX; m. Feb. 11, 1869 in Mecklenburg Co., NC to Martha Jane Campbell. Hope this helps. I am descended from Robert Faris, brother of Alexander (no. 1 above)and have a fair amount of information on the various branches of the York County Farrises including siblings and spouses, etc., of the people listed above. Let me know if you'd like to have that information.
