Terri,
Good to hear from you. If we are related, we have to go back farther. My Karl Fanslau had as his first wife, Louise Janowska. In 1900 they were both in Cleveland, Ohio. Your Gt-Grandfather Carl Fanslau is living in the same household as August in Two Rivers, WI. His name is spelled Charles in the 1900 Census. The 1900 census has your Charles born in Germany, with both parents born in Germany. My Grandfather was born in Rypin District of what is now Poland. When he was born there, it was a part of Russia. It did not become Poland until after WWI. Prussia is right across the border from Poland and there was a lot of movement from Russia to Prussia.
