So far, I do not find connections between the Eastern Kentucky Fannins and the NY/Connecticut Fannings. Most (if not all) of the Eastern Kentucky group (Floyd, Lawrence, Johnson, Morgan etc. counties) appear to be well tied to the Amelia Co. Va. family (Bryant Fannin). There are some unconnected fannins who start appearing along the Ohio river counties after 1820. Some of these are immigrants and some could be NY/Conn. The families who show up further northwest, in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, etc. are a mixed bag from both NY/Conn, Kentucky, and the southern branches. This makes it real difficult.
Also, there are a number of the NY/Conn. group who went south and show up in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. Not all left as tories. This adds confusion.
I have also found members of several different Fannin families in Texas before 1860 besides Col. James Walker Fannin of Goliad.
The story just keep growing. Between my family and my wife, we have over 20,000 entries in our data base. KEy families
include Fannin, Fanning, Fannon, Miller, Byrom, Conally, Skaggs, Rose, Fraley, Ferguson, Spenrath, Heiman, Ingenhuett, Dreinman on my side and Kiernan, Dwyer, Regan,Lovett, Swope, Weakland on my wife's side. Plus many more.
I will keep looking for Silas. I agree. The names in that family (Silas, Easton) do not match any of the Kentucky/AMelia Co. Va. bunch. sounds more like the NY/Conn. family (they were a bit more refined folks).
