Keep in mind that Silas may have been named for an uncle or someone from his mother's side. If he was the son of Joseph Fannin (b. ca. 1801 Va. & lived in Lawrence Co., Ky.), this Joseph was married to Rachel Easterling (Easterly) as well as to Elizabeth Kitchen & Mary Gallion. Rachel appears to be the daughter of Thomas & Rebecca Easterling of Russell Co., Va. I believe they had a son named Silas (b 1813) who moved to Ky. He could very well be the one Silas Fannin was named after.

Regards,

Pat Fannin
