Well as a start, it doesn't look too hard. The 1930 Census shows John E. Fannon in Harlan Co. Ky Dist. 1, 23 years old as a boarder, married at age 21. He is born in Kentucky and claims both his parents were as well (possibly mistaken as we shall see). He is a coal miner but is unemployed. In tha 1920 Census is shows him as a teenager with his parents and siblings. Community of Tway, Harlan Co. Ky. Hiram Fannon 41, born in Virginia and parents born in Virginia, a coal miner and married to Ellen, 35, born in Kentucky and parents from KEntucky. Children include: McKinley 16, John E. 13, Ethel 11, Oscar 8, Effe 5, Jewel 3 2/12, Elmer 5/12. All the children show born in KY with fatehr from Va and mother from KY. In the 1910 Census, for Bell Co. Ky, Dist. 21 community of Cary, Hiram Fannon is shown age 32, born in Virginia but claiming parents born in Tennessee. Ellen M. 24, born in Ky, McKinley 8, Edward 3 and Ave 13/12, all born in Ky. Next round will be to look for Hiram and Ellen in the 1900 census. This is not a good thing, becaus e the 1900 census is spotty with much lost. We may be able to pick him up in the 1880 census at age 12, with parents either from virginia or tennessee. With his father being born in either of those states and probably before 1850, theey do not seem to be among the early Fannin settlers in Morgan, Lawrence Johnson or Floyd Counties. When I have time, I will look further. Tom Notify Administrator about this message?
