Hi Bill,
Before my Dad died, he told me a story about our Fannings coming from Ireland to Canada also. I believe we came from Co. Wexford, altho the name is also in Co. Tipperary. Near as I can tell, we emigrated from Ireland in the 1840's then appear in Illinois in the 1850's. No one admits to being from Canada though. I have never been able to prove what he was told by relatives. If anyone has any facts on Fanning's in Canada, I'm willing to share what I have on us in Illinois.
