John Fanning, wife Elizabeth Stamp, born 13 May 1791, Wythe Co., VA, was the brother of my ancestor G W Fanning Sr and wife, Rebecca Keltner. The parents Joseph Fanning Sr and Barbara Davis were married 8 April 1790, in Montgomery Co., VA. Wythe Co. was formed in 1790 apparently after the above date. All of the older sons of Joseph and Barbara remained in Morgan Co., IL. These include John, G W, Joseph Jr, Abraham, Jacob and Sampson. The younger sons Davis, Andrew, Nathan, William, Archibald and daughters Mary, Delilah, Louisa and Harriett plus probably a daughter Fannie went to AR in association with their father in the mid 1830's. Possibility of another unknown daughter somewhere. One son Robert died in Florida in service during the War of 1812.

At this point, believe your John was a nephew of Joseph Sr. Any input welcomed.
