Rueben B. Fanning is my ggg-grandfather. Here is the information that I have:

Rueben B. Fanning, born about 1804,in VA., died 1853 in Sullivan County, Missouri. He married Martha (Patsy) Lineberry, born Carrol Co., VA. I only have information of one son:
Jacob Fanning (my gg-grandfather), born 1829 in Giles Co., VA., died Dec. 11 1864 in Dover, TN. He was in the army, and died in the Dover Hotel, which was being used as a hospital. He is buried in Dover, TN. He married Catherine Hamlin, born March 1837 in Ohio. Their children were:
1. Rueben H. Fanning, born May 2, 1852, Sullivan Co., MO, died Feb 9, 1917. His first wife was Mary Carmack; 2nd wife Mary Isabella Goodwin. All are buried in Baker Cemetery, Sullivan Co., MO.
2. Martha Jane Fanning, born May 4, 1853, Sullivan Co., MO, died Jan 10, 1911. She married Euel Beller (1827-1897) of Linn Co., MO. They are buried at Baker Cemetery, Sullivan Co., MO.
3. Mary Ellen Fanning, born Jan 18, 1854, Sullivan Co., MO., died Nov. 17, 1918. She married William M. Carmack (1854-1921). Buried in Baker Cemetery.
4. Sarah Elizabeth Fanning, born July 1855, Sullivan Co., MO., died July 30, 1933. She married Henry Mericle. They lived and are buried in Carterville, MO.
5. John Fanning, born 1857.
6. William Fanning (my g-grandfather), born Aug 17, 1859, Sullivan Co., MO., died Jan 7, 1902. He married Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hill (1862-1938). They are buried in Baker Cemetery.
7. Leander Fanning, born 1860.
8. Charles Fanning, born 1861, Sullivan Co.,MO. He married Henryetta (Janie) Spencer (1866-1951). Buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
9. Jacob F. Fanning, born March 1865, Sullivan Co., MO, died Dec 11, 1911. Married Nora Burk in Joplin, MO. Buried in Galena, Kansas.

As I understand the story, Catherine Hamlin Fanning, wife of Jacob, decided to leave her husband to be with Ira Sevier. She left all of her children except the youngest, Jacob F. Fanning, with whom she took to be with her. The remaining children were then all separated to live with other families. I am not sure whether or not she actually married Ira Sevier, but she did deed some land to him after her husband Jacob Fanning's death. She is buried near Joplin, Missouri, where Ira Sevier lived.

I also have information on children of Reuben H. Fanning if you are interested.

I am also interested in any information regarding the lineage of Reuben B. Fanning. I have very little information other than what you see here.

Thank you,

Chris Lessly
