Looking for info on Capt.William L. Fanning, born 23 Mar 1821 IL, died 6 July 1899 Douglas Co., MO. He was head of one of two homeguard units in Douglas Co. during C W. Also a farmer and Methodist preacher. Had three wives - Amanda ?, b 1825 KY, Sarah ?, b 1844 TN & Mrs. Mary Burden Brown. Known children were Elizabeth (1850), Margaret A (1852), William T (1854), Millard F (1856), Almartha (1858), James L (1869), Jonathan H (1872)and William C (1874), all born Douglas Co. Was William L the son of Joseph Fanning Jr of Morgan Co., IL? Obit states he traveled over considerable territory before settling in MO and survived by three children and wife Mary. Does anyone know of him?
