Dear Tom,
You have a very interesting response to the inquiry regarding John (Jehu) Fannin/Fanning. I am really glad to see some new thought regarding the son of Bryan Fannin of Amelia Co.
Everything you mentioned after Jehu's wife's first namebeing Ann was new information to me and as you know I've been at this for many years. I am intrigued.
I realize the information is as you stated loosely stitched together, but at least it is new information and for that I am thankful.
Could you share where the following information came from?
1. Ann's maiden name possibly being Gurr.
2. Records found in Carrol Co. & Mecklenburg Cos., Va. concerning John or Jehu Fannin/Fanning. I know Laughlin & Winnefred Fannin were in Mecklenberg Co., Va. and Laughlin was a guardian of his brother, Bryan Fannin, Jr.'s oldest son, John Fannin, but I haven't seen any records of Jehu (John) being in Mecklenburg Co., Va. until you mentioned it.
On January 28, 1767 & November 19, 1767, Laughlin Fanning is listed in his brother Bryan Faning's Will in Sussex Co.,Va. where he is given charge over Bryan’s son, John,
until he reaches 21 years of age.

3. What information is available that seems to indicate this John (Jehu) had a son named Clement?
The only son that I have any record of would be Jehu Fannin, Jr. who married Elizabeth and lived in Halifax Co., Va. after his father's death in 1770.
Halifax County, Virginia Court Orders 1767--1770.
Plea Book #6 (1767-1770) Page 322-- April 1770, They reported to the court that the defendant, Jehu Fanning had departed this life. The case was dismissed.
Halifax County, Va. Personal Property Tax List:
1782 Jehu Fanning1 tithe
1783 Jehu Fanning
1784 Jehu Fanning
1785 Jehu Fanning
Later in 1786 Jehu & his wife, Elizabeth, sold their land in Halifax Co., Va. to Samuel Ginnett.
Best Regards,
Pat Fannin
