So Mary....
If you are still lookin at the Fannings, I have a couple questions and observations.
My line and DNA test puts me firmly into the Amelia County Va. Fannings who date back to +/-1700 in the colonies.
Other DNA tests link this line closely (one or two markers off) with the Fenagh, Leitrim Fannings.
Not any similarity to those claiming Edmund of Limerick.
Two very distinct families.
So if Cromwell packed off the bulk of the Fannings to the north, and Edmund, who had money and influence went to the colonies....are we looking at the "Manor House Fannings" and the peasantFannings ?
If so, were the "Manor House" bunch the ones from France and rewarded for loyalty to Strongbow and the "crown" ? while the rest were older celts who tilled the fields and adopted their Manor's name ?
MAybe you or someone else has found some clues by now.
