Though not my Fanning line, I have done a little research on the John M. Fanning line of Montgomery Co., KY, and Ralls Co., MO and beyond. Believe you are right about your William married to Eva T. Schneider. Have William's birth as Jan 1876, in Ralls Co. to James William Fanning and Sarah A. Haynes. Incidently, Sarah's parents were George Haynes and Jane Fanning. James William was the son of James Fanning and Nancy See. James was the son of Joseph Fanning and Nancy and the grandson of John M. Fanning. The above info needs to be used as a guide and independently vertified. If you look at the MO Sec of State's website for deaths, there are some of the Ralls Co. Fannings and relations' death certificates online with much info.
Cathy, in her message on the Ralls Co. Fannings and as project manager for the Fanning YDNA project, was looking for a male descendent which is descendended from the male Fanning line only so presumely that person will have the Fanning surname unless an adoption or etc occured. Do you by any chance know of a living Fanning surname male from the Ralls Co. line?
The Ralls Co. line can be traced back to John M. Fanning, born c1760, but no further. No Fanning researcher has been able to find John M.'s parents and thus possibly tie the line into one of the very early Fanning lines. A Fanning male(s)that would be willing to participate in the YDNA project, would thus give all Fanning researchers the dna clues that are needed to tie or not tie them to known early Fanning lines and point reseachers in a more specific area to research for John M.'s ancestors.
