OK folks, I'm back....and with a little more info this time, so, I'm hoping someone can tie me in. On the 1870 Lee Co., Va census, page 305, is the following information:
Fannin, James W., age 26, male works on farm, born in Wythe Co., VA
Fannin, Ava B., age 23, female, keeping house, born in Hancock Co., TN.
Fannin, Jesse R.D., age 1, male, at home, born in Lee Co., VA
I'm am nearly positive that this Jesse R. D. Fannin is my great-grandfather, Jesse "Demps" Fannon. The age and location are exact. Ava B. Fannin is the daughter of Dempsey and Mary Singleton.
On the same census page 311 is a Jesse R. Fannin, age 51, born in Wythe Co., VA. I think that this is probably James W. Fannin's father. On page 306 is a Bryant Fannin, age 84, who may likely be the father of Jesse R. and grandfather of James W. (I know Bryant Fannin and Abigail Muncy had a child named Jesse)
Can anyone verify this information and tie me in??? Thanks
