I have a John Emery Fannin b 1899 d 1974 at majestic, Pike Co., Ky. He was the son of Zephaniah b 1860 d. Martin Co, Ky in 1936 & Cyntha Bell Castle.
Zephaniah was the son of William Henry Fannin b 1824 Morgan Co., Ky d after 1900 in Martin Co., Ky.
William Henry was the son of William Michael Fannin b ca. 1797 in Va. & Jane Penix. Supposedly, William Michael Fannin was the son of Bryant Fanning b ca 1757, son of Achillis & Rose Anna Fanning of Wythe Co., Va.
We have no descendants of William Michael Fannin that have had their y-DNA tested through the Fanning DNA Project.
There are now 60 participants in this project of which several are descended from the Bryant Fanning mentioned above.
Family Tree DNA is having great sales at this time through
Dec. 31, 2011 for many first time tests & upgrades. It would be nice to find a male Fannin who descends from William Michael Fannin who would agree to test. If you know such a person, please contact the Fanning DNA Project administrator, Cathy Stoppel at pstoppel@wvi.com
