Tom,
I think this might have been the grandson of Bryan Fannin, Sr., that is: Jehu, Jr. (wife Elizabeth), because Jehu, Sr. (wife Anne) seems to have died in 1770.
In April of 1770 Robert Donald and Company, Plaintiff, brought a lawsuit against Jehu Fanning, defendant, in Halifax County, Va. Courts. Jehu failed to appear in
court so the jugdement was charged against his estate in the amount of ½ hogshead of tobacco. Shortly thereafter, the suit was dismissed due to the fact that “the
defendant, Jehu Fannin, has departed this life”.
On May 15, 1779, a Jehu Fanning of Halifax Co., Va. sells personal items, such as household goods and animals to Joseph Pulliam of Halifax Co., Va.Recorded June 17, 1779.
This is most lkeely Jehu Fannin, Jr., since his father died in 1770.
On November 19, 1785, Jehu Faning and his wife, Elizabeth of Halifax Co., Va. sell 223 acres on Difficult Creek to Samuel Gennett. This was recorded on September 21, 1786.
Regards,
Pat Fannin
