From court house records in NC, Deeds, etc. in GA, censuses after 1850 & head of house before 1850, records in VA court houses.
Naming of members of families on Fed US censuses began in 1850. Before that time it was the head of house only. There are some exceptions on SOME of the state censuses. For example: the 1776 MD State Census.
