I have seen a copy from Footnote.com of the record of David Fannin, Mattross from Va. However, I did not find the birthdate that Gwathmey mentioned. The 1740 birth date would indicate another David Fannin, because David Fannin, son of Achilles & Rose filed for a pension in Floyd Co., Indiana on August 13, 1832 and stated that he was 73 years old on Aug 3rd of 1832, which makes his date of birth Aug.3, 1759.
This would fit the age range of the other children of Achilles & Rose, namely Achilles, Jr. and Bryant.
Either Gwathmey was incorrect or there is another David Fannin who was born in 1740.
