The 1850 Census for Morgan County shows following:
#471
George Fannin, 45, Va
Mary, 40, Va
Briant, 20, Ky
Peter, 18, Ky
Thomas, 15, Ky
Elizabeth, 13, Ky
Resannah, 8, Ky
John 6, Ky
George 3, Ky
Henry 7/12, Ky
and....Eve Mumbower(sp) 71, North Carolina
there were two other Fannin entries including
#462, James Fannin 39 with wife Elizabeth 36
along with 6 children and
#472 William Fannin 24, Va with wife Eunice 16, Ky
The first George #471 should match your GEorge and he must have had his mother-in-law living with him.

A compilation of the 1840 Census by Sulyer and published in Morgan County History Vol. 1 shows a George in Morgan County:
George Fannin 10
along with:
James 15
David 18
Travis 18
Briant 22
I think Travis fits with the Travis in my line and is the father of my great grandfater John J. Fannin of Elkfork, Morgan Co, Ky. If so, the George in the 1840 Census would be a son of David Fannin Jr., born in Va.
Hope this helps.
