Exciting news regarding James Fannin(g) of South Carolina: James Fannin(g) b. 1710-1720 married Elizabeth (Unknown). He settled in South Carolina around 1750 and died after 1804. James and Elizabeth were the parents of Abraham Fanning b. 1750-1755 d after 1810. Abraham married 1st Narcissa McColphen 2nd Betty Burton. This James Fannin(g) was the progenitor of Colonel James Fannin of Goliad, Texas fame. Results from the Fanning DNA Project tests shows that James was not from the Northern Edmund Fanning line. Instead, he is connected with the Virginia Fannin's. The descendant who was tested carries the Virginia Fannin markers. In particular, one marker 464 b that carries the value of 16, is peculiar to those descending from Chestnut Creek John Fannin(g) b. ca. 1737 & d. 1813. Once again the Fanning DNA Project has proven itself as extremely helpful to the Fanning/Fannin/Fannon researchers. Please consider the evidence and then join or support this worthwhile project. See www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/f/fanning/ or contact Cathy Stoppel, project administrator, at pstoppel@wvi.com Regards to all, J Patric Fannin - a Fanning DNA Project participant & descendant of Bryan & Elizabeth Fannin(g) of Amelia County, Virginia Notify Administrator about this message?
