Dear Rick,

Thanks for the information. I have seen this site for some years now and have tried to contact this Cal Ingram with the address shown. I never received a reply. The earliest record that I have seen regarding Thomas Anis (Amis) Fanning is from
Broderbund World Family Tree Vol. 13 Tree 1027 entitled:
Ancestors of Jane-marie Kathryn Justice. I tried to contact her and many others who cited her as a reference, but no replies were forthcoming.

As for Cal Ingram's book, no one that I have contacted has ever seen
a copy of it.

If you go to: www.rootweb.com, then click Family Trees at the top of this page, next type in the Surname: Fanning, then look down the left column for: Fanning,Thomas. There are several by this name. Look in the column marked database and find the one called: familyties. This is JC Thompson's database. If you follow it, the index will list Fanning, Achillis born 1735 Amelia Co., go to this and it will list his father as Bryan Fanning, click on Bryan Fanning's name and it will give you information regarding several theories of Bryan Fannin(g)'s heritage.

As you study out this mystery of Bryan Fannin (d.1765)you will
also come across names of references such as Harry Gibb and Nancy Hannah, Jared Pickleseimer and a man named Pinkston. I have contacted all of these except for Lee Pinkston. None of them have any information regarding Thomas Anis (Amis) Fanning.

Lee Pinkston appears to be a deceased cousin of JC Thompson.
Thompson cites him as the source of the Thomas Amis Fanning
story. There are no references to Pinkston's source.

There are a few researchers who have tried to connect Thomas Amis Fanning to the Edmund Fanning line from Conn. I have searched many official documents and none of the Thomases of this family ever had a middle name of Amis or Anis. Even the dates on these Thomas Fannings do not line up. (See Walter Frederic
Brooks: History of the Fanning Family and other New England historical sources).

I would like to discuss this with you more, but would rather
go to email to continue. Please contact me at jpfannin@hotmail.com. if you are interested.

Sincerely,

Pat Fannin
