Very interesting. The name David runs deep in the Virginia Fannins. David, son of Bryan and Elizabeth Fannin of Amelia co. Ca. is alleged to have died in North Carolina in about 1755.
Of course you know that "Black Davy" of the Carolinas was the orphaned son of this David and a grandson of Bryan Fannin of Amelia Co. Virginia....If "Black DAvy" the Tory is not the namesake of your Adams, then the other known choice would be David (1753-1832) son of another childre of Bryan and Elizabeth, Achilles. Achilles andhis family moves west from Amelia Co. to Montgomery/Wythe Co. Va. and this was an important jumping off point for Kentucky.

Kenneth Flowers has posted much of the information on David FAnning Adams on the Fanning forum.
