Dear Ralph, The family of John & Keziah Fannin has been embellished through the years. They now are said to have had at least 12 children. However, the will of John Fannin,Sr. (1853 Lawrence Co.,Ky.) only lists eight: John, Jr, Bryant, Stephen, Philip, Isaac, Mary Pitts, Amy Stewart & Sarah Howe. The other names that have been added by researchers are: David Fannin(m. Julia Jordan), John Jackson Fannin, Rachael Emeline Fannin (m. Andrew Jackson Burton) and Joseph (m. Elizabeth Kitchen). All of the last four are only conjectures with no documentation presented as of this date. Some have recently suggested that they have proof that David was John & Keziah's child, but when pressed, provided no documents. One would think that they are all "near kin" due to the dates & the places of residence, but this is not proof of relationship. As for the source quoted from: [“Eastern Kentucky Ancestry and Collateral,” we have Joseph Fannin born 1834, son of Issac and Saphira (Ross) Fannin, married Mary Galian.] This is inaccurate. Isaac & Sophia Ross Fannin did have a son named Joseph Lewis Fannin (b. 1834) who married Mary Lock. They live in Boyd Co.,Ky and raised a large family on Bear Creek, where they are buried in the Fannin Family Cemetery. This Joseph was my great-grandfather's brother. There is alot of documentation for this. As for Keziah's maiden name being "Burton", again I have seen no documentation or even a hint that this is so. Also, the Joseph Fannin born in 1802 was born on Virginia, however some think in Russell Co.,Va. Sincerely, Pat Fannin Notify Administrator about this message?
