Found this site and was looking at some of my family names. My Mom's maiden name is Fanger. You are the only Fanger in the entire list.
What I heard is that the last name Fanger is probably a misspelling of the German name Sanger. I think the S in german looked and or sounded like our F. Have you ever been told this? It makes me wonder in terms of doing geniology if really I would have to trace back to Sanger.
