A belated response from one of the few remaining Fanchers with the last name still living in Middle Tennessee -

Saw the question posted from a couple of years ago asking about T.H. Fancher Sr.

He was the son of Richard Fancher, Revolutionary War soldier at Battle of Ft. Moultrie in Charleston Harbor (DAR marker is near Monterey, Tenn) and he (my great-great grandfather) and according to the book we have, did return from a short stay over in Western Arkansas in the 1840's, came back to Tennessee, had 2 sons, James Alexander Polk Fancher, and a second younger son T.H. Fancher, Jr. (who was my great-grandfather - our family called him Pappy Fancher) Sr. and Jr. lived in western White County, Tenn. 10 miles west of Sparta, Tenn. off Hwy 70, he, along with the 2 generations to follow, was a miller, farmer, and raised and traded in livestock. The grist mill foundation rocks still stand in 2007 down on Taylor Creek, headwaters flowing over into Tennessee's scenic Center Hill Lake, creating "Fancher's Falls" Fancher's Falls is a 90' waterfall, w/ surrounding 200' cliffs. T.H. Fancher Jr. of Sparta had 8 children, including my grandfather, Sam, all children were born in White County, Tenn. either on the farm or in town in Sparta. My dad, Thomas Gillen Fancher, who passed away in 2003, was born in Sparta, Tenn.

I believe my dad, according to his stories, attended a Fancher reunion in W. Arkansas back in the late 1940's with a family member, Judge Frank T. Fancher, originally of Sparta, who lived in W. Palm Bch, FL and still practiced Law at the time.

I have two sons, Drew Hampton Fancher (18), and David Wells Fancher (14) and we live in Franklin, Tennessee.

I've watched with recent interest the political discussion, controversy, and several commentaries about the movie, September Dawn. Went to see it in Nashville with some of the family. I believe T.H. Fancher, Sr. would have been an uncle, as best we can determine, and please correct me if I am wrong, to Capt. Alexander Fancher, portrayed in the movie. ?????

My question - from one in Tennessee, does anyone know if the Fanchers, out in Arkansas or ? still have similar reunions or family gatherings, perhaps in Western Arkansas or ?
