Thank you for the information. I am still trying to trace "Brian" who changed his name either in Ireland or Toronto. But, he was still one of James and Frances Ridgeway's children. (married + 1821)
According to Toronto contact he (Brian) was born in 1833. That would have been 12 years after James & Frances were married. He married Catherine Hayden and they came to Toronto. He had a Hotel and Livery in Toronto. Later, he caught typhoid, but did not die from it. Soon after while
cutting hay on his farm, he was injured and died in 1854. They had six children. His wife died in 1868. The last child, Mary Alice died in 1853, lived 3 days.
I wonder if you might trace "Brian's" geneology or least his Immigration data. He left Ireland from West Mead, Cork - ahead of the famine". Perhaps his Baptismal record in Ireland would give us his legal name, or Toronto's Immigration records. (I am not certain that he was an "MD" in Ireland." Any of the above would help us prove his proper name and therefore, the true family. Than you.
