I searched the Irish Family History Foundation's database. It contains 11,500,000 surviving rcds for abt 60% of Irish counties. Rcds B4 1840 are sparse.

For Thomas Fallon B 1890 +/- 4 yrs in all Ireland, I found 70 B rcds. For 1890 (exact), I found 7 B rcds. One of these MAY be for your ancestor. A view of the B rcd SHOULD show the child's parents' names. This fact may validate or invalidate a rcd. B/M/D registration was civil after 1863 and therefore comprehensive. B rcds can be obtained from the General Register Office at http://www.groireland.ie provided you know the DOB and county/parish.

Catherine McCloskey is also an Irish name. Suggest you find he DOB from obits, etc B4 you start searching for her B rcds in Ireland.

Google the Foundation's name to lead you to this database. Hope this helps. Pls post your search results to my genforum msg.
