John,

You are correct that I am not 100% certain on John Falconer and Margaret Cowan, but it is a very good bet from my perspective.

Archibald Cowan Falconer was my great grandfathers uncle. when he died in Boston, Massachussetts USA, without children, USA, his will left details of his family back in scotland and the distribution of his assets. His older brother, Richard Craig Falconer, took his middle name from his mother maiden name. This is common in Scotland. My own Father's middle name is Fowler, which was my grandmother from Glasgow's maiden name.

I searched backward in the Scotlandspeople web site in 30 year overlapping increments. First I looked for a match on Cowan and Craig, no records found, then Gray (Grey) and Cowan, again no records found. When I tried Falconer an Cowan I had one record. It is the right time period and the wedding in Carriden, a part of Bo'ness is only 24 miles away from Lasswade.

So I believe it is right but am still looking for more proof.

All that said can you fill me in on the generational flow from Walter Falconer down four or five generations. We have to be about fifth cousins?
