I may have not been clear in my posting.
John McCulloch was the eldest son of John and Isabella Falconer McCulloch. John (the junior or second) was born November 24, 1812
in Mill of Brodie. He was baptized December 10, 1812 at the Church of Scotland at Dyke according to the records maintained by the Kirk Session of Dyke. Witnesses were John McClulloch, Dyke; John Falconer, Dyke; John Ross, Dyke and Mary Falconer of Mill of Brodie. John came to the United States in 1844 landing in New York and then going to Wisconsin. He actually had attempted to come the year before (1843) but was shipwrecked off the coast of Ireland. He married Maggie Frew April 21, 1864. He died March 14, 1883 In Janesville, Wisconsin. John and Margaret Frew McCulloch's daughter, Isabella (Belle) McCulloch evidently had a letter sent to her father
and written January 24, 1840 by his uncle, James Falconer a professor at the Royal Academy, Inverness. John may have been living in Ireland at the time since he was there is 1838. Prior to 1835, he was bound out to a Dr. Brander in Elgin. From all of this information, it appears that the professor James Falconer most likely was a brother to his late mother, Isabella Falconer McCulloch who is buried in cemetery at the Church of Scotland in Dyke. I do not know who her parents were. Many of these letters that were saved by Belle McCulloch are most likely at the Wisconsin Historical Library in Madison, Wisconsin since Belle was a catalogue assistant at that library from 1904 to 1917.
John's father, John McCulloch immigrated to Canada with four of his children from his marriage to Isabella Falconer, his second wife Margaret Logan and the two children born of his second marriage. Several of his children later moved to the United States and several ended up In Wisconsin. The father remained and died in Canada. There does not seem to be any conflict withn the information I have have and I do not think I mixed up families since the baptism information was taken from records at Dyke and the other information was from letters and avaialbe records in Wisconsin. I never suggested parents names of Isabella that is buried in Dyke so I guess what I need to do is find out whether Alexander and Catherine Brander Falconer were parents of Isabella Falconer b. 1794 and/or was she also the sister of James Falconer and Margaret Falconer. All of these names were used as first names of children of Isabella Falconer McCulloch (John, atherine, Ann, Mary, James, Alexander, Isabella, David-who was born the year before his mother died).
