I'm looking for descendants of William Fairlie/Fairley, b. 23 Apr 1830 in Scotland, d. 28 Aug 1900 in (probably) Swan, Marion Co., Iowa (he's buried in the Swan Cemetery) and his wife, Mary (Gaston) Fairlie/Fairley, b. Abt July 1835 in Ohio. They married 16 Feb 1854 in Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co., Iowa and had the following children, 1. L. A. (daughter), b. abt 1855 and probably died as an infant, 2. Emily J. (dau.), b. abt 1856/1857, 3. Cyrus Nelson (son), b. Aug 1857, 4. Ira Clinton (son), b. Dec 1860, 5. E. Mary (dau.), b. abt 1861/1862, 6. W. Emerson (son), b. abt 1864/1865, 7. R. James (son), b. abt 1866/1867, 8. Olive (dau. - went by Ollie), b. Feb 1870, 9. Ola R. (dau.), b. Apr 1872 and 10. Giles A. (son), b. abt 1877/1878 - all were born in Iowa and this family appears in state and federal census records for Swan, Marion Co., Iowa from 1856 through 1900. Cyrus Nelson married Rosanna ? abt 1879/1880, Ira Clinton married Mattie A. ? abt 1883/1884, R. James married Laura ? abt 1903/1904, Ola R. married Charles Edwin Stockham bet. 1910/1915 and Giles A. married Laura B. Ogburn abt 1904/1905 - Giles A. and Laura B.'s daughter, Josephine L, b. abt 1905/1906 in Iowa, married Roger H. Stetson, b. abt 1904/1905 in Wisconsin. Mary (Gaston) Fairlie/Fairley seems to have disappeared after the 1900 fed census record - she may have remarried or died, also. If anyone has any info on this family, I'd like to share. I believe Mary Gaston to be the daughter of Robert and Lydia (Soule) Gaston. Thanks for any help you may be able to give with this family. - Sherry Kilgore
