Hi,

Woul you know which Fairfield family or members of the family moved to Canada, specifically to the province of Quebec. I have a John Gilbert Fairfield born circa 1805, a mill builder. There is a Reuben Fairfield from Stanbridge, Quebec. Jeremiah Fairfield one of John Gilbert's sons was also a mill builder in Lachute, Quebec in 1878 and in 1896 in St-Eugene along the southshore of the Ottawa River (ref. Cyrus Thomas, History of the Counties of Argenteuil and Prescott, page 609).
I have John Gilbert's descendents but not his ancestors. He married Felonise Poitras on June 28, 1837 in Chatham, Quebec.
In Argenteuil county there are names such as Brownsburg, Ayersville, he owned a mill, Morin Heights, Arundel, St-Jerome, Ste-Scholastique and Lachute.

Any of this ring a bell?

Hope to year from you,

Charlotte, Gatineau, Quebec
