Howdy cuz, Robert Samuel Faircloth born in the late 1970 in Sampson Co.. He married Matlida Alligood in Laurens Co.Ga. on 4 March 1825. they had at least 6 children : Mary M., Matilda, Robert R., Allen D. and 1 unidentified son and daughter. Robert S. served as a private in Dean's Company of Georgia State Militia during the First Seminole War of 1817-18. Robert S. apparently died in the late 1830's. Matilda then moved back to Laurens Co.,Ga. where she appears on the 1840 US Census. Robert Samuel's parents Allen and Maria were the first Faircloths to move to Florida. Allen was born ca 1770 in Edgecombe Co.,NC He and his father Robert were living on the South Black River when Allen left NC and moved to Ga. about 1802-03. Allen settled in Montgomery Co. Fla. in the 1820's. Allen and Maria witnessed a deed on Feb 28, 1823 in Laurens Co. when their son Robert Samuel bought a slave.Allen died in Leon Co. in the 1850's and Maria died there in the 1830's. Allen D. (son of Allen) was a cavalry soldier in the Flordia Militia during the Creek-Seminole War of 1836-7. In 1840 only Allen D. and a male 60-69(father?)appeared in the US Census of Florida. Allen D. died in the 1860's in Wakulla Co. All this information came off page 106 in the Faircloth Family Assn. book by Robert Earl Woodham of Altanta, Ga.
