"I'm Anthony Dwain Faircloth (1962). My father is Harold Dwain Faircloth (1948?) and my grandfather is Chester W(?)Faircloth.
They had eight kids - 5 boys and 3 girls.
They were from the Gramville/Paducha area of Kentucky (Monkey's Eyebrow actually). I was never told much about my great grandparents. Family history was not something that was discussed much.
My father and grandfather both left the family in Kentucky to get work in Marion/Kokomo, Indiana in the late 50s/very early 60's. This is where my father met my mother, R. Kaye (Shroll) Faircloth.
My grandfather ran a family grain mill for a short time in the Gramville, KY. area. He retired a factory worker. My dad retired a few years ago as a GM auto worker. He and my mom now live in Las Cruzes, NM. My sister Ellen Rene Faircloth also lives there. There were not many Faircloths in Indiana when I lived there.
When I joined the Navy in the '80s and was stationed in Chasn. SC. I was frequently asked if I was "kin" to such and such Faircloth. I always said not that I knew of.
Several years ago I discovered that NC was also full of Faircloths. I have a theory that the Faircloths came into the country in the southeast, possibly NC then worked their way up.
I noticed many posts mentioned NC. Does anyone have any info as to the migration of Faircloths north to Kentucky/Indiana? Another Faircloth I know mentioned that many of his line of Faircloths worked in lumber and terpintine any word on that?
I am 38 with an 8 year old son, Samuel Dwain (Temple) Faircloth who I would like to pass our history on to.
Thanks for your time."
