Ted; John Peter was my 3rd great grandfather. He moved to Durham Connecticut around 1840, later he settled in East Haddam. I don't know the exact circumstances under which he moved, but he inherited some money from his father that was supposed to be used for education, but it appears he financed his relocation instead. He later sold some land in Southampton county that he also inherited from his father John. Peter was a shoemaker and possibly also farmed and was a laborer in CT. I'd have to check my records, but I believe that John Peter and his wife Olive are buried in East Haddam.

Please contact me so we can share information, I'm building a database on this Faircloth family.

Naomi
