See "Early Fairchilds in America" by Jean F. Gilmore pgs 146-294-295. Lucius is a 7th generation member from Thomas & Emma Seabrooke Fairchild. See also "The Empty Sleve" by Steven Rose, 1964, gives an in depth account of the life of Lucius Fairchild.

Lucius lost his arm at Gettysburg during the Civil War. 9th Gov. WI. served 6 yrs. In 1872 appointed US Consul-General to Liverpool for 6 yrs. Then 2 yrs as Consul-Gen. to Paris. "Fairchild Mountain" in the Mummy Range of the Colo. Rockies is named for him.
