If you are still interested in info about Thomas Nast Fairbanks & his brother Adolph St. Armont Fairbanks, please let me know.
Their mother, Pauline Fairbanks, was born Augusta Pauline St. Armont (or possibly adopted - but we think most likely a birth child) to Adolph & Mary (Churchill, we think) Starmont. The Starmonts died 1858-1861 & the 4 children were scattered. Pauline's sister Clara was adopted by an ancestor of mine, & my ancestor's brother & wife, Barzillai & Elizabeth Merrill, adopted Gussie (as they called her) or Pauline (as she appears on censuses after she and Charles Fairbanks were married).
I have a good bit more info, & am in touch with a descendant of Pauline's adopted sister, Ella (born Butler, orphaned before she was 2) (indentured by Starmonts, & maybe adopted) (adopted again by Smiths).
