When I was growing up in the 1960's, we visited distant relatives Chan & Ann Fairbanks in Portland, OR. Ann Bauer Fairbanks was a 2nd cousin to my maternal grandmother and Chan was a nationally-known Landscape Architect. Their one son John was born in the late 1930's, but never married.
I moved to Minnesota in the 1976; Chan and Ann died in the late 1980's in Portland. In the last year, I have learned that my mother through her father (the Denham family) is descended from the Puritan Jonathan Fairbanks who came to the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1636 and built the now famous Fairbanks house in Dedham, MA. My mother is a descendant of his second son George Fairbanks (who settled at Medfield, now Medway) and Mary Adams. Their eldest daughter Mary Fairbanks married Joseph Daniels; their daughter Elizabeth Daniels married Joseph Mason; and their daughter Abigail Mason would marry James Denham. Abigail's father died when she was 12 and her mother remarried to John Draper in 1730. The Drapers in c.1735 removed from Massachusetts to Virginia.
I am looking for anyone who knows who Chan Fairbanks ancestors were. He talked of growing up in southern MN and my brother remembers him referencing about his family's connection to the immigrant Jonathan Fairbanks, but at the time I paid no attention. Now I believe he is a distant relative and would like to find out how he descends from Jonathan. Any help would be appreciated.
