The following article is from the JulyAugust, 2007 issue of the D.A.R. magazine:
"The namesake of the Rufus Fairbanks Chapter, Satellite Beach, FL, was a Patriot ancestor of the chapter's organizing regent. Rufus Fairbanks descended from Jonathan Fairbanks, who came to America with his house divided into parts and stored in the hold of the ship on which he sailed. In 1628, Jonathan Fairbanks rebuilt the house in Dedham, Mass., outside of Boston. The oldest frame house in America, the home is filled with antiques donated by various members of the Fairbanks family."
I am not researching these people and have no further information.
