Decided to check George's parents given it looked like he'd died within Civil registration times.
Found that he died in 1870 in Kelso, Roxburghshire aged 79, widower of Helen SLIGHT, and son of William FAIRBAIRN and Mary CARTER.
The Greenlaw MIs show Thomas (father of George) as dying 1809, tenant in Bedshiel.
