The Fairbairn family who settled in Brockville, Ontario, originally located to Perth. John K. (Senior) was a baker and confectioner and had a bakery in Perth and subsequently removed to Brockville. His wife was Grace Cunningham. I am related through the Cunningham connection as my great great grandmother was Eliza Cunningham, a sister of Grace. She also came to Perth with her husband, Robert McLean. The senior Fairbairns had 9 children, John,Archibald, James, William, Alfred, Frank, Grace, Oswald and Mary (adopted). Sons James W. and Oswald G. are buried together in the Brockville Cemetery near their parents. I have visited the gravesite. I also have the obituary for Grace Cunningham Fairbairn who died in 1894. John K. died in 1881. They also had other living sons at the time of death of Mrs. Fairbairn, John. K and Archibald. At the time of her death, John K. was living in Toronto; Archibald, in Minneapolis; William, in St. Louis, Frank E., of Brockville, and Alfred of Montreal. My information has John K.(Jr.) marrying a Maggie Alexander, but this may have been a second wife. John apparently was killed by a train in 1913.
