Hi, this is my very first time on GenForum, and looking under the Fagnani surnames.
My given name is John Fagnani, Jr. My father and his parents hail from Jessup, PA (a small town just outside of Scranton. My grandmother, Cristina, was married twice, and her husbands were brothers. Her fist husband was Girolomo, and the 2nd was Bernardo. It is clear from the Ellis Island database that Bernardo came from a town called Dorno, in the provence of Pia, in the region of Lombardy. My grandmother's maiden name was Merli, and presumambly she also came from Dorno. The Ellis Island database shows an astonishing large number of individuals named Fagnani who came to the USA (astonishing in the sense that the family has always had the notion that there were very very few families, outside of Italy, whose name was Fagnani since we never ever ran into anyone with the same last name as ours). I have yet to count up the Fagnanis in the Ellis Island Database but there are a few hundred which could mean that there are several hundred Fagnanis in the USA. We are at the very beginning stages of compiling the Fagnani family tree, not to mention that we are self-taught as to just how to do that. Fell free to make further inquires, Jack Fagnani, Bridgeport, CT (I have a listing in the white pages of the Bridgeport phone book, and their are 4 (Fagnani) of my cousins in Jessup/Peckville, PA who are also listed in the Scranton phone book (there are no other listings for Fagnani in that phone book).
