Clint,
Our side of the Faddis Clan, the southern side was probably John Faddis from Chester Co., PA. He also resided in Ornage Co., NC. He owned slaves and was a well heeled farmer in NC. In the Revolution he was a member of the Orange County Horse.... a cavalry unit raised locally. So we know he was a rebel. After the war he returned to farming, but about 1790 something he was fined 100 guineas. That would be a horrific fine today. Afterwards he died and was buried in NC. Between 1800 and 1830 the family disappeared from NC. I have traced them to VA and PA. By the 1830 census there no Faddis's remaining in NC. There were several Faddis's who were in the VA units during the "late great unpleasantness", and also ones in the PA Union units. Which side your branch comes from you will have to determine. Mine went to Knoxville and east TN after the Civil War. there are still large numbers of Faddis's left in Grayson and Carroll county VA as of the early 1990's.
