Fabert Family in Illinois
Posted by: Marc Peagler Date: April 27, 2001 at 09:17:38

My grandmother's second husband was Elwood Fabert (I always knew him as grampa Woody), his brother was Uncle Montel, his sister, Aunt Ruth (we always used to search for 4 leaf clovers in her backyard).

This branch of the family lived in central Illinois, in and around Champaign County. I have some information on these people, including Montel's WW2 service (bonafide war hero, 2 Distinguished Service Crosses, Bronze Star, 2 Purple Hearts, recommeded for a Congressional Medal of Honor, but it was reduced to the second DSC, real funny story there)
