Hello, Nellie, My grandmother, Mattie Lou Fabel, was born in Montgomery, AL in the 1890s. Her family was from Bavaria and came to Alabama in the 1830s, I think. I know that she was descended from Leopold Phillip Fabel. She was also descended from a Mary Eisert from Germany. However, she told me that Fabel was originally spelled Fable, and that the spelling was changed when the family moved from France to Germany. The family lived on or near Carter Hill Road in Montgomery. Do you think we may be related? I have more information, but cannot get to it right this minute. I will be happy to send it to you later, if you would like it.
