I will try to reply to your message again, as I was cut off a moment ago and lost all my thoughts.Yes, quickly , as it may happen again,I have seen a list at one time of a Mason Ezzard listed as William and Margaret Ezzard's son, but other lists do not so list.If this lady is quite certain that her Mason was the one shown it would help me considerably. It is my belief that my Mason,ie. the Mason Izard who received the So Car. Land Grant in Old Ninety Six , and who very soon had his name spelled for him as Ezzard, is related to William Ezzard and a John Ezzard or Izard.Mason, of coursecould not write and always used a capital M as his MarkAll of the copies of documents that I have or some at least have a John Ezell as witness.Mason carried the Ezzard surname , along with one Harrison and Margaret (a widow) into Ga.Margaret stayed , but Harrison and Mason went to Livingston Co. Ky in the early 1800sHarrison , my Great Great Grandfather, was either Mason's son or nephew.(I say nephew because there was a Harrison Izard killed in 1781 and his widow , Phoebe Izard received compensation .
In one document Mason and a Louis Ezzard are in Court to protect the children of one Phoebe Ezzard , a widow , who had married again , died, and her children were left out in the cold by the new husband.I have no idea where Louis came from , or the original old Mason for that matter. Something happened to the Ezzards in So Car. that the records do not reveal.
This old Mason was born about 1745 or 1750.It is possible that he was William Ezzard's brother and their father was a
Mason also.
When Mason and Harrison went to Ky. their names changed to Ezell for the first time, in the documents anyway. My Grandfather added the extra Z and L for some unknown reason.
I am sure I confused you but these are very confusing people.I really appreciate hearing from you.
