do i think he descends from this line???? from the ezells of virginia ,yes i do. there are several families that moved to carolina from the ezell line. how he connects is anybodys guess.
what i think will help the most is the knowledge that living in north carolina or virginia did not mean that much to them back then. my great grandfather benjamin ezell is listed in virgina and in carolina doing business and paying taxes. it dosent tell you where his home is. i luckly know exactly where his house stands and that of his grandson, if you want you can cross into carolina in 10 minutes from his house. my grandfather james standley born in 1776, live in mecklinburg and his son bought propery in virginia where his mother was from. that property was bought in 1834 and sits on the north carolina /virginia line. i have a brewer in my line ,i have the complete line but could not connect him to anyone in virginia, although the farm he owned was in greenville county on rattlesnake, within 2 miles of the nc line.i have just found that hew was from nc, where i hadn,t looked before, at least not seriously. John standley son of james had his will in north carolina . i wasnt even looking for it when i found it. i bought it because of the name ,read it and saw that it said john w standley and cast it aside thinking thats not him. my daughter reads it and says this is our grandfather listed in this willand it was but they had the incorrect middle name. i know this dosent help youbut my point is you will find what you want in unlikerly places, that has been my experience.stan
