Hi, I just have to read these to hear some peoples thoughts on this name. I grew up in Pa and we were th only on also in the County or probably in the Western part of Pa. My dad came from N.C. in 1924. I just dreaded saying my last name. When I said it once i said it twice. And-----it was alwyas what nationallity is that. The name first appears in the bible by the rock Ezel. I have heard all you have. Listen to this one. My dad said it was English and his brother said it was French. My mom was a Hammond and she said no way,,,,,,,,her Grandad and all that family came from England and that is not a English name, no matter how you spell it. I have seen this is N.C deeds and Court records and etcx as Ezel Ezzelle Ezell, Easle, Ezard, Izzell. probably more. I posted a Easle will from 1770 from N.Hanover Co,N.C . The Ezard will from 1770 who was a known Ezell was right above it. I do not no if anyone took heed or not, but I hopeThelma EZZELL Peters
